It can also do very well indoors; it is recommended to allow only a short period of vegetative growth in order to control the vertical growth. Growth is very lush and many budding sites are produced. Indoors flowering takes between 9 and 11 weeks. The buds are denser than many sativa strains with this fact being attributed to the indica plants that have been randomly crossed with native sativa cultivars, having been brought to the region by Indian workers over the last few centuries.
Jamaican Pearl Feminised was created by crossing Early Pearl, an outdoor sativa hybrid strain, with some rather special cultivars from the Caribbean region. Jamaican Pearl is a tall plant with heavy production potential that is acclimatised to cooler climates such as that of northern Europe.
These plants are quite bushy in contrast to many sativas which are rather tall and lanky. In typical sativa fashion, though, its flowering clusters have a tendency to “run” together filling in the spaces between inter-nodes forming long, fat colas as they do so. It is this characteristic that allows Jamaican Pearl to give such bountiful harvests, it is certainly one of Sensi Seeds’ best and most prodigious outdoor cannabis plants.
Several tropical Caribbean sativas were crossed and grown out be Sensi some of which did surprisingly well and even finished flowering in a typically short Dutch summer. This surprising turn of events led to the cross with Early Pearl. Jamaican Pearl can attain heights of 300 cm. if started early in the growing season. If shorter plants are required for whatever reason then they should just be planted later in the Spring or even early summer. Successful harvests can be gathered up to 50°North with flowering finishing by late October or early November at the very latest.
The scent and taste of Jamaican Pearl is sweet, fruity, earthy and spicy which is reflective of the rich diversity of its genetic heritage. Its effect is recommended for both medicinal and recreational use producing a warm, happy, uplifting, glowing effect that radiates throughout the body and mind and providing therapeutic relaxation.
Starting with the exquisite female parent of Marley’s Collie, the perfect pollen donor was found in our favourite Early Pearl male. Known for producing tough, fast-flowering offspring, this sweet Sativa was also less likely to dilute the Jamaican’s breezy cerebral high or interfere with her tropical flavours. As with Marley’s Collie, the new f1 crossing impressed Sensi’s breeders straight away. Test-grows produced consistent, powerful plants with a rapid mostly-Sativa growth pattern and the desired combination of weight, flavour and potency. Jamaican Pearl was added the Sensi Seed Bank collection and has quickly become one of our most popular outdoor strains.
Jamaica is home to Sativas of astounding quality and potency, selectively bred for countless generations, so it seems strange that Caribbean genotypes are relatively rare in modern breeding. The enthusiasm which greeted Marley’s Collie showed Sensi Seeds that growers everywhere are keen to sample the delights of genuine sinse. The years of breeding work behind our Collie strain had produced some very interesting possibilities involving Jamaican gene-stock, the most promising of which was the project to develop a hybrid with dominant Jamaican qualities that could succeed in the northern summer.
A real innovation in cannabis breeding – Caribbean ganja adapted for the European climate! Jamaican Pearl is a sweetly potent outdoor Sativa whose presence will bring a taste of the South Seas to any garden and can even make the northern latitudes seem a touch more tropical.

As a plant that can flourish in the European summer, Jamaican Pearl can therefore perform brilliantly in almost any climate or situation. Indoor growers who may be put off by the higher prices of tropical strains should consider adding this variety to their room. When treated like any other indoor Sativa, Jamaican Pearl will give fantastic results under lights.
