How To Remove Hemp Oil Stains Naturally From Your Clothes

What is the meaning of life? What is the soul? What lies beyond the grave? How do I remove hemp oil stains from my clothes?

These questions have twisted the minds of philosophers into salted pretzels and left our greatest scientists baffled, befuddled and suffering from low self-esteem.

Today, we shall reduce the most humongous of these questions to simple terms and communicate to you, dear reader, all the materials, practices and tricks necessary to remove hemp oil from any garment. (Our advice works for other types of stains and spills, too!)

Fundamentals of Stain Removal

Abide by these simple rules and hemp oil stains won’t stand a chance.

Act Fast

The longer an oil stain is allowed to dry and set into the garment, the harder it will be to remove. For best results, act immediately.

Dab Now. Rub Later.

For fresh spills, dab. Never rub and never scrub. We know, rubbing feels so right. Resist the urge. Dab instead.

For set-in stains, rub away. (Stain-removers and pretreatment sprays require rubbing and, in some cases, scrubbing.)

CBD Oil Tinctures

Treat Both Sides of the Fabric

In his seminal work “ The Art of War ,” military strategist Sun Tzu wrote, “To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy.” Sun Tzu refers to warfare between nations, but his wisdom also applies to battles of the more oily variety.

Now, try to put yourself in the mind of a stain. This is how a stain thinks: “I’ll move to the underside of the shirt. I’ll be safe there.”

Apply cleaning agents to the topside and underside of the fabric or garment. You’ll block the stains best avenue of escape.

How to Remove Hemp Oil Stains, Naturally

At Green Lotus ™ , we’re natural. Our farm-to-bottle philosophy makes us one of the only companies to control every part of the production process, from organically-grown hemp to five-panel testing for safety and purity. Instead of CBD alone, we give you the whole plant: full spectrum hemp oil, just as nature intended.

When it comes to stain removal, non-chemical solutions are our first choice. You can find most of this stuff around the house, and it’s gentle on the environment.

Baking Soda and White Vinegar

Just spilled some hemp oil? Unleash baking soda and white vinegar, the sworn enemy of fresh spills.

  1. Dab the affected area with a soapy towel, paper towel or rag for twenty seconds.
  2. Pour baking soda on the topside and underside of the affected area.
  3. Wait 15 minutes. Baking soda should turn brown and clumpy.
  4. Scrape the baking soda off the garment . Hint: Use your driver’s license or a credit card. (Other people’s licenses and credit cards work just as well. If the stain won’t come out, simply use the credit card that is not yours to buy a new shirt.)
  5. Soak in distilled white vinegar for 10 minutes.
  6. Rinse in hot water and leave to dry.

For set-in stains, switch from dry baking soda to a baking soda paste. To make baking soda paste, mix baking soda and water in a bowl, or bowler hat, at a 2:1 ratio.

Ex: 1 cup of baking soda + ½ cup of water.

Rub the baking soda paste into the garment, on the topside and underside of the affected area. Let sit for at least 30 minutes.

Tough stains may require 1 -3 hours (and may be emotionally unavailable, may ride a motorcycle and may be unpopular with family and friends).

Scrape or brush the dried paste off of the garment. Rinse thoroughly with cold water or run the garment through a wash cycle, setting the washing machine to “Cold.”

No baking soda? Try talcum powder and baby powder. Follow the same process as you’d follow with baking soda.

Avoid Splotchy White Marks, Do A Colorfast Test

Before using baking soda (or any cleaning agent), you’ll need to know whether your garment is colorfast or non-colorfast. Here’s how to test for color-fastness without ruining you garment:

  1. Find a part of your garment that you can afford to discolor: somewhere inconspicuous, like an inside seam.
  2. Apply baking soda, detergent or stain remover to the area.
  3. Wait a few minutes and dab the area with a white towel or rag.

If the rag carries off any color from the garment, the garment is non-colorfast.

On the other hand, if there is no color transfer — if the rag is still white — the garment is colorfast. It’s safe to use baking soda, white vinegar or stain remover!

For non-colorfast garments, enlist the help of a professional laundering service. If that doesn’t fit your budget, dab diluted white vinegar on both sides of the stain and wash your garment with cold water. (Non-colorfast clothing bleeds color in hot water.)

Club Soda and Salt

For a fast, effective and non-abrasive response to fresh stains, including hemp oil, look no further than club soda and salt:

1. Pour club soda onto a towel.

2. Dab affected area on the topside and underside to remove excess oil.

3. Pour salt over the affected area. (Be generous.)

4. Pour club soda on top of the salt.

5. Let sit for 1 – 2 hours.

6. Shake off the salt. Dab with a fresh towel until clean.

During the course of our research, we found a study conducted by the Dry Cleaning & Laundry Institute (DLI) that tested (with surprising rigor) the relative effectiveness of water and club soda as stain removers. According to Kevin Houston of Crest Cleaners, researchers at the DLI found that club soda is indeed a good short term fix for most stains. ¹

We just think it’s fantastic that someone took the time to study club soda in such detail. If you’re in the area of Cocoa, Florida, stop by Crest Cleaners!

How to Remove Hemp Oil Stains With Pretreatment Sprays and Machine Wash

This simple, five-step process requires a washing machine and one of the following pretreatments:

  • Liquid Detergent or Powdered Detergent (wetted into a paste)
  • Stain Remover/Pretreatment Spray (Green Lotus™ recommends Puracy : an enzyme-based, natural cleaner.)
  • Toothbrush (optional)
  1. Locate the hemp oil stain.
  2. Spray with stain remover or apply detergent on the topside and underside of the garment. Rub in with fingers or scrub in with toothbrush.
  3. Set to “Hot.” Start wash cycle with detergent. (When using chemical-based pretreatment and detergent, hot water is preferable to cold water. Use cold water for 100% natural fabrics or if you unsure about the source of the stain.)
  4. Check the garment after the cycle ends. Is the stain still there? If so, repeat steps 2 and 3.
  5. Air-dry the garment. (Beware: heated drying can set stains and make them even harder to remove.)

Enzyme-based Stain Removers: The Natural Choice

Enzyme-based cleaners are an effective, environmentally-friendly solution for removing protein-based stains. Organic oil, wine, blood and pet accidents are ideal targets for enzyme-based cleaners — also known an enzymatic cleaners.

Enzyme-based cleaners work differently than oxidizing agents like bleach.

Oxidizing agents eliminate stains by making them colorless. Enzyme-based cleaners, on the other hand, attack the root cause of a stain, breaking down bacteria to remove the whole stain without the use of chemicals.

4 Weird (and Sketchy) Ways to Remove Hemp Oil Stains

Like the cybernetic assassin in the 1984 film “The Terminator,” hemp oil stains can’t be bargained with, can’t be reasoned with, do not feel pity or remorse, and absolutely will not stop until your spotless white shirt is spattered with tiny brown spots.

So, what is a person to do when natural cleaners go AWOL and baking soda skips town? We have the answer: it’s in your garage; it’s not natural and it’s either flammable or sugary. Click on the sections below to learn how to harness the power of industrial solvents and soda to treat stains and spills.

Acetone

*Warning* Acetone (ass-eh-tone) is highly flammable. Keep containers of acetone sealed when not in use and away from fire or sparks. (Author’s note: Oil stains are offensive, of course. But is a stain worth a fire, a life? I think not.)

Hello, friends of Green Lotus™!

Upon further consideration, we have decided that acetone will not remove stains. It’s useless for that purpose. It simply doesn’t work. We apologize for the inconvenience.

As the #1 solution to creaky doors, WD-40 needs no introduction. WD-40 “lubricates” via strong solvents that break down rust and grime in moving joints and door hinges. In a pinch, these solvents can be used to treat stains and spills.

To remove hemp oil with WD-40, you will need:

  • Two thin towels or rags.
  • WD-40
  1. SprayWD-40 on both rags. (Be generous. If the rag is large enough, use the opposite ends.)
  2. Apply the soaked rag to the topside and underside of the affected area.
  3. Dab until spill or stain absorbs into the rag.
  4. Spray a fresh part of the rag, and repeat the process until the stain is gone.
  5. Rinse in cold water.
Lighter Fluid

Lighter fluid is a potent solvent and a solid fall-back option for camping trips, outdoor parties and reggae festivals. It makes for a great “first-aid” treatment.

To remove a stain with lighter fluid, you will need:

  • A source of butane, e.g. a lighter, tiki torch or charcoal lighter fluid for outdoor grills.
  • A towel or rag
  1. Find a hidden spot on the garment to test whether the lighter fluid removes color from your garment. Apply a small amount of lighter fluid to a rag and dab. If no color shows up on the rag, continue to step 2.
  2. Apply lighter fluid directly to the stain , underside and topside.
  3. Softly dab the stained area with a rag.
  4. Apply lighter fluid and dab again, until the stain has faded.
  5. Hand rinse in hot water with soap, or run the garment through a wash cycle on “Hot.”
Coca-Cola

Cuts through rust, cleans tile grout and breaks down limescale in toilets and showers.² Some people even drink Coca-Cola.

But for hemp oil? Yes! Coke can remove hemp oil stains in 30 minutes flat. No special skills required:

  1. Throw the garment onto the ground or into a sink.
  2. Open a can of Coke.
  3. Dump the contents of the can on the hemp oil stain, saving one sip to enjoy later.
  4. Let soak for 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse thoroughly in water.*

Does hemp shrink when washed

No, hemp fabrics do not shrink when washed; although the jet determinant of whether they will shrink or not when washed depends on the condition under which they are being washed. If you wash your hemp cloth with hot water, there’s a great possibility that it will shrink: but if you use cold water, nothing will happen to your fabric.

However, if you happen to have tough stains on your hemp cloth and you must wash it with hot water, wash under a lesser cycle than you would if you were to use cold water. And do away with the heat-based drying process after washing with hot water.

Also, when drying help clothes, it is better to air dry the fabric after washing to avoid shrinkage altogether. By not drying hemp clothes in the conventional tumble or line drying style under direct sun, you are reducing the chances of shrinking your hemp clothes whether you washed them with cold water or not.

How to get rid of weed stains on teeth

Yes, we get high smoking weed and it offers a temporary getaway from worries, but not everybody knows how to clean the weed stains that hang between teeth after finishing a few wraps. While it may be legal to smoke weed in some places, going around with discolored teeth is sure not something I think anybody could want. Check below for the various methods you can adopt to get rid of that weed stain on your teeth.

Secure an appointment with a dentist

Although this method can be a bit expensive but is one of the best ways to maintain proper teeth hygiene. Paying a dentist regular visit will surely help you take care of dry mouth, gum diseases, an inflamed mouth that may arise as a result of frequent smoking of weed. As a stoner, you should visit a dentist at least twice a year, preferably every 6 months for more accurate timing.

However, Colgate states that it is important for ardent smokers to visit the dentist more than twice a year because they are vulnerable to dental diseases. Although it wasn’t clearly stated whether the statement is directed at cigarette or weed smokers, regardless, it is best to have regular discussions with your dentist as they are in the best position to tell you how often you need to visit a dentist.

Do it yourself (DIY) method

Although this method is less expensive and very easy because technically, all you need can be found in the comfort of your home, they are equally as effective as the method discussed earlier. This method involves using any baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to brush your teeth to remove the stains. Check the detail below.

Brushing with baking soda

Brushing your teeth with baking soda is one of the most effective and safe natural ways to keep your teeth sparkling white as the product is considered to be mildly abrasive. According to medical news today, it is recommended that you clean your teeth at least every 2 days with baking soda and water.

The process involves a simple method as making a paste by mixing water and baking soda in equal parts, dipping your toothbrush in the paste, and brushing your teeth as you would normally do. This should be done for about a minute before using water to rinse your mouth.

Brushing with hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is also an effective home-based cleaner you can use to clean weed stain off your teeth. This method is very easy as it may involve you rinsing your mouth with the solution alone or you can brush your teeth with the solution.

To brush your teeth with hydrogen peroxide, all you have to do is to make a paste from the mixtures of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide; making sure it is as thick as the regular toothpaste, then brush your teeth the regular way for about 2 minutes. Rinse your mouth with water.

However, if you prefer to use the solution as a rinse, mix the hydrogen peroxide with an equal amount of water, then rinse your mouth with the solution for about a minute or 30 seconds. Note that hydrogen peroxide may be harmful if it stays longer than a minute in your mouth or your swallow the substance, therefore, when cleaning with the solution, you must be very cautious about the process.

You can clean your mouth with hydrogen solution every day, but it is not to be used more than once per day because it can do more harm than good if wrongly used. Similarly, it is advisable to use mildly abrasive hydrogen peroxide. You can use hydrogen peroxide of about 3% concentration or better still, you can make a consultation with your doctor before use.

Note: Every tip shared above can be used to clean every other tooth stain like discoloration caused by tea and coffee.

How to remove hemp oil from furniture

If you have hemp oil on your furniture, it is most likely not a stain but used as a coat but if yours is as a result of the spill, you should get rid of the stain almost immediately it happened because it only takes about 12 hours before hemp oil dries on a surface. To get rid of hemp oil stain, dip cotton wool or a dry clean cloth in rubbing alcohol and start to rub the affected spot until the whole stain is completely gone. Note that a little bit of pressure will help.

  1. Dampen a clean dry cloth in the mineral spirit solvent.
  2. Gently rub the dampened cloth on the affected spot and rub as gently as you can until the stains are completely lifted.

Warning: Make sure to use mineral salt in a well-ventilated environment and also ensure not to saturate your furniture with the solvent because it may damage your furniture especially if it is made of wood.
